Activities in the area

Of course, the area around the farm also has a wide array of things to do and see for days spent exploring the region. These include:

Lydenburg Waterfall
This comprises three separate waterfalls, each more beautiful than the one before it. Two of the falls tumble into an enchanting plunge pool, which is deep, dark and irresistible. This pool feeds the third waterfall, creating a truly unique and beautiful spectacle.

Lydenburg
This little town is alive with possibilities for inquisitive visitors. There are artists based here that specialise in painting, carving, glass staining and sketching. Those that want to get a taste of its heritage can visit its various memorial sites, while its nature reserves are a treat for the whole family.

Kruger National Park
As one of Africa’s largest game reserves, Kruger certainly is a South African treasure. It covers an incredible 7 523 square kilometres, and is home to an extraordinary selection of wildlife. It is only about 90 minutes’ drive from the Mount High Luxury Country Lodge, and visitors can look forward to seeing elephant, lion, leopard, rhinoceros, buffalo, hippopotamus, African wild dog, cheetah, giraffe, zebra, blue wildebeest, kudu, spotted hyena, and many more species here. This is one of the country’s prime tourist attractions, and is an absolute must for visitors from around the world.

Fly Fishing
This entire area is acclaimed for its fly fishing, thanks to the dams and rivers here. Spekboom River is particularly popular amongst anglers for its rainbow trout, while brown trout is also freely available. Sitting on the water’s edge, tossing a line into the water, and enjoying the utter tranquillity of Mpumalanga is an experience that is near perfect.

4 x 4 Trails
Visitors with their own 4 x 4 vehicles will, no doubt, love exploring the local 4 x 4 trails on the farm. Some are tamer, while others challenge drivers and their cars to new heights and inclines. Along the way, keep an eye out for exciting antelope and birds. Pack a picnic basket to enjoy along the way to make a real day of your 4 x 4 adventure.
